The Rock The Bells festival kicked off on the East Coast this weekend at Governors Island, New York and Merriweather Post Pavillion in Washington, DC.

Thousands of fans saw classic performances by Snoop Dogg, Wu Tang, Rakim, KRS1, Slick Rick and Dj Premier. Another major name on the bill was a Tribe Called Quest – undoubtably a group that has influenced our artists here at Yaheard.com. For more pictures and coverage from the show, check out Matilda Egere Cooper’s work on The Cultural Expose.

The 49ers new single Hard Times, addresses the issue of Homelessness. Check out this home made video from group member Jas Mace.

Jas Mace said the following “This is an unreleased song by The 49ers (Feat. Spyda Keys) and is produced by Funtasma, who also produced “Sophisticated Freaks” and “The Sun.” It’s an unofficial video that I made because I don’t want to give you free music with nothing but an album cover. It’s called “Hard Times” and is fitting since many people are currently suffering hard times around the world, some worse than others. Life is full of ups and downs, good times and bad. We all have the ability to weather the storm and survive life’s negative cycles. Remember, you are not alone. Keep your head up! “Hard Times” was never selected by our A&R managers for whatever reasons. If you ask me they were buggin’ lol. But, who knows, we may release it in the future. It’s always been one of my favorite songs with a great message. The stats in the video are taken from random websites off the net, but are accurate. I “borrowed” other youtube videos regarding homelessness and constructed this video. If an owner comes across this video, please don’t be angry…it’s all for the cause to eradicate homelessness.

Original Story from The 49ers Official Blog Site.

“Within the past week The 49ers have been working with two extraordinary producers from Japan. On Thursday we recorded a track produced by LEMS for our up coming project called Musiac. The album is to be released by the end of 2010. The song also features on the chorus a talented up and coming singer/songwriter from Japan named Acharu. Her debut album is called Nasty and charted at #2 on iTunes Hip-Hop charts in Japan. Below is one of my favorite songs by Acharu and is produced by LEMS. Also, you get a glimps at LEMS’ style of production as he opens up his techniques to the world while he is constructing the beat for our next                                                                album – Musaic.“- Jas Mace (Rapper and Producer from The Hip-Hop                                                                      group The 49ers.
