DJ Eclipse Announces The Ending Of The Halftime Show On WNYU

It’s been said that all good things must come to an end. The Halftime Show hosted by DJ Eclipse on WNYU is no exception. One of the longest running Hip Hop shows in New York City, The Halftime Show has been airing for the past eighteen years every Wednesday night from 10:30pm-1am.

The Halftime Show is known for solid turntablism, breaking fresh Hip Hop music that you might not hear from other media outlets, in depth interviews, and guest freestyles.

DJ Eclipse took to Instagram today to announce that he will end the show’s run following the final episode on March 2, 2016 which will also mark the 18th Anniversary of the show. Here is the statement that he released along with this photo.

“It’s been a great journey, but after 18 years I’ve decided to give The Halftime Show on 89.1FM an ending. March 2, 2016 will be the 18th anniversary of the show as well as the last show. We will have a big blowout show as we do every anniversary with a few producers, a ton of MCs and a DJ or two.

Thanks to all the artists that have come through over the years, guest hosts and DJs that have held me down while I was on tour and to the folks up at WNYU who continued to provide us with an outlet to play good music even after our time should have run out.

Special thanks to DJ Riz and Lynn Gonzalez who started the show with me 18 years ago and to all the staff that have contributed to the show throughout the years. Skizz, Petey Cologne, Marz One, Navani, Big Zoo, Soe, Naveen and anyone else that helped out in any way I thank you for your contributions and hope the listeners have enjoyed what we had to say/play”

DJ Eclipse has held down the mic, the boards, and the turntables during his tenure at WNYU. Along the way there is a long list of guest hosts, guest djs, as well as countless numbers of guests to the show. His original partners were DJ Riz and Lynn Gonzalez. Some of the others include DJ Skizz, Petey Cologne, Marz One, Navani, DJ PF Cuttin, D Stroy, Ready Cee, DJ Sucio Smash (who hosts Smashtime Radio once a month in Halftime’s time slot with Eclipse overseeing the show but remaining silent) and Big Zoo, amongst others.
